Amanda Wheeler Flotlin, LMFT: Therapy & Coaching for Musicians and Creative Professionals

Supporting Creative Professionals in Therapy & Coaching

I’m a Los Angeles-based Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #153661), and I specialize in working with creatives and individuals in the entertainment industry navigating eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety, burnout, imposter syndrome, career transitions, relational challenges, grief, and self-worth.

With over a decade of prior experience in the music and entertainment industry, I understand firsthand the pressures of balancing creativity, performance, and personal well-being. I bring that lived industry perspective into my clinical work, offering therapy that is both evidence-based and deeply attuned to the realities of creative careers.

My Approach to Therapy

With experience at a Partial Hospitalization/Intensive Outpatient (PHP/IOP) eating disorder treatment facility, I take a holistic and integrative approach to care. I collaborate with dietitians, psychiatrists, and medical doctors when appropriate to ensure comprehensive support.

My work is grounded in HAES (Health at Every Size) and Intuitive Eating principles, helping you develop a more compassionate relationship with food and your body while cultivating resilience and self-acceptance.

Evidence-Based & Integrative Modalities

My therapeutic approach blends relational exploration with practical, evidence-based tools. I am trained in:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)

  • DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)

  • EFIT (Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy)

  • Trauma Resiliency Model

I also integrate mindfulness, parts work, and nutrition-focused mental health strategies. Together, we’ll identify patterns, build sustainable coping tools, and create meaningful changes that support both healing and growth.

Therapy & Coaching for Creative Careers

In addition to psychotherapy, I offer coaching for clients navigating career transitions or seeking clarity in their creative and professional lives.

Creative careers are rarely linear. Whether you’re:

  • Facing burnout

  • Managing anxiety or ADHD

  • Moving through an identity shift

  • Rebuilding confidence after setbacks

  • Navigating industry uncertainty

I provide a grounded, structured space to explore what’s next and build sustainable momentum.

Supporting the Creative Community Beyond the Therapy Room

My commitment to musicians and creative professionals extends beyond individual sessions. I collaborate with industry organizations to support broader conversations around mental health, performance pressure, and sustainable creative careers.

Conferences & Professional Engagements

  • Speaking at NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) for two consecutive years on “Stress and Resilience on Tour” and “Psychological Safety on Tour”

  • Supporting the Jump Global Summit

  • Creating and delivering workshops for Women in Music, Backline and Songwriters of North American (SONA)

    Areas of Focus

Through these partnerships, I focus on:

    • Managing anxiety and performance stress

    • Supporting ADHD in creative professionals

    • Preventing burnout in the music industry

    • Navigating career transitions and identity shifts

    • Building long-term emotional sustainability

This work informs and strengthens the therapy I provide, keeping me closely connected to the evolving realities of the creative industries.
